School Starts for Teachers and Students

School starts for teachers on August 1st with a Kick-Off event at Magee High School for all certified and classified staff. Employees will report to the Magee High School Auditorium on Friday, August 1st with sign-in and information booths available from 8 am – 8:25 am and an exciting and informational program beginning at 8:30 AM.
Students report to school August 8th. Please check out the school website or contact your individual school sites for information about Open House, registration and residency requirements, immunization requirements, and what your child will need to begin the school year ready to learn.
DESTINATION GRADUATION will be hosted by the City of Mendenhall for all Simpson County School District students, faculty, staff, family, and the community on Thursday, August 21st from 6 – 8 PM on Main Street in Mendenhall. The Parade of Graduates will begin at 6 PM and music, dancing, booths promoting a healthy lifestyle, nutrition information, health checks, fitness training, and good dental care will fill the streets. Church Bands will inspire and between bands our cheerleaders will teach everyone some great Move To Learn dances to start the new year in great shape and stay in shape throughout the year! Mendenhall Tiger Coach Durwood Anderson and Magee High Coach Jim Nowell will have student athletes on hand to demonstrate and teach young students football skills, drills, and fitness activities to get ready for the season. Plan now to come out and be part of promoting DESTINATION GRADUATION on Main Street in Mendenhall Thursday evening, August 21st from 6 pm – 8 pm.
